Constance Beyer, 92 Tottenville great-grandmother, tutor, former Girl Scouts chair Constance Beyer, 92, longtime resident of Tottenville, passed away Oct. 30, 2019, at Summer Hill Nursing Home, Old Bridge, N.J., where she was a resident for 10 months. Born Constance Boublis in Elizabeth, N.J., Constance lived there until her marriage in 1947. Upon her marriage she moved to Staten Island and settled in Tottenville in 1951 where she raised her family. She was an active member of Our Lady Help of Christians parish and was a Girl Scout leader there for many years. She also served as a district chairman with the Girl Scouts. After her children had grown, she attended the College of Staten Island and earned her bachelor degree in English, with highest honors. She then tutored elementary school children. She was a founding member of the South Shore Swimming Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, walking, and bowling. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Frederic B. Beyer; her son, Paul M. Beyer, and daughter, Clare E. Beyer. She is survived by her children, Mark Beyer, Ann Neitzel and Jane Beyer; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Jeanne Kanzler, of Norwalk, Conn. Funeral arrangements are by Bedell-Pizzo Funeral Home; visiting is Sunday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m., with Mass on Monday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m., at Our Lady Help of Christians Church.
