Louis M. Gancos, 71 Had long career with MTA; devoted brother, uncle, and friend Louis M. Gancos, 71, of Eltingville passed away on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, at Staten Island University Hospital South. Born Friday, April 30, 1948, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Louis J. Gancos and the late Eugenie L. (Heinreich) Gancos. Louis lived a full life. He was head of derailment for the MTA for more than 20 years, and held a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and a B.E. in electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. Louis had a an IQ of 162,, scoring in the 99.98% percentile. A genius at any rate, Louis was down to earth. He loved hunting and skiing. He traveled all over the United States and never missed an opportunity to be with family especially family reunions in Vegas. Louis was a devoted friend to many and his loss will be felt among them. He was the dear brother of Patricia Cipolla and brother-in- law of Jack Cipolla; loving and devoted uncle of Jennifer Cipolla, Michael Cipolla, Charlie Cipolla and Heather Cipolla, and devoted great-uncle of Alexis, Brianna and Sasha. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc. located at 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y. 10312. The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y.
