Thomas Marion Hutson III Indio - December 27, 1944 - October 23, 2019 Thomas Marion Hutson III passed away October 23 after a valiant battle with cancer. Known for dedicated service to his country and the local community of Indio, including community boards and Veterans organizations, Tom will be remembered for his leadership and his offbeat humor. Tom was born in Paragould, Arkansas and graduated from the Woodbury Forest School in Virginia where he was a two sport letterman and co-captain of the varsity football team. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity as well as a participant in the Army ROTC. Upon graduation from college Tom began a distinguished 21 year career in the US Army, earning the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and numerous other medals and recognitions. He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the Army Tom worked for ten years at United Defense where he was in charge of international sales and marketing of the Bradley fighting vehicle. Tom loved hunting and fishing and later in life became an avid golfer. Tom is survived by his sister Judy Manty of Indio, CA and brother Kirby Hutson of Mill Valley, CA.
