In memory of
George Patrick "Pat" Hanna
George Patrick 'Pat' Hanna
Nov. 15, 1928 - Oct. 11, 2019
Pat Hanna passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 11, 2019, at Hospice House in Bend, Ore., with his wife and best friend Cheri and devoted dog Reece, by his side.
A proud native Oregonian, Pat was endlessly hardworking, loyal and a bit of a prankster. He was born in Latham, Ore., and spent his youth in Myrtle Creek where he graduated as Salutatorian in 1947. An accomplished athlete, Pat attended Willamette University on a basketball scholarship. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a medical Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne before beginning his career. Pat was a visionary and innovator in the Pacific Northwest timber industry. He was sought out for his expertise in the woods, at the mill and in the boardroom. Family, friendships, community, outdoor adventures and mentoring others were truly the most important aspects of his life.
Pat is survived by his wife, Cheri; sons, Dr. Ward (Andrea) Hanna, Wayde (Sherri) Hanna; and grandchildren, Trevor (Christine), Kyle, Sean (Dominique), Eric, Rachel (Ben Slolt); and great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Evyn Lee; sister, Donna Mae Reid; and brother, Le Roy. His surviving family also includes Cheri's children, Todd Juenger, Josh (Melissa) Juenger; and grandchildren, Zachary, Colton, Lauren and Caitlin. Pat was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Donald, Arthur and Keith; and his sister, Ellen Jean Fox.
The family suggests all remembrances be sent to the George P. "Pat" Hanna Endowed Scholarship at Central Oregon Community College. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Nov. 1, 2019, at Broken Top Club in Bend.
