Margaret (Fereno) DeRose
Margaret DeRose, 93 Margaret DeRose (nee Fereno), of Dongan Hills, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and native Staten Islander, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, at the age of 93. After graduation from Port Richmond High School she was employed by Staten Island Savings Bank and Chase Manhattan Bank. After marrying her sweetheart, Vincent, and raising her two children, she returned to the work force at the Staten Island Development Disabilities Office. You could always find Margie preparing her Italian specialties and cooking Sunday dinners surrounded by her adoring family. She had a kind, generous heart, and was loved by all. She was a devout parishioner of St. Ann's Church. Margie is survived by her son, Peter (Kathleen), daughter, Judy (Richie); grandchildren, Alicia (Jay), Lauren (Timmy), Michele (Steve), Richie (Karla), Vinnie (Ally); great-grandchildren, Joseph, Tristan, Keira, Ava, Lily, Hazel, Braeden, Richie, Danny and Isabel. She is also survived by her sister, Eileen Meli, sisters-in-law, Lucille O'Brien and Ann Nicotina, and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased in death by her loving husband, Vincent, adored parents, Adelina and Daniel Fereno and fond brother-in-law, Vincent Meli. The wake will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20 at Hanley Funeral Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will take place on Monday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Church, Cromwell Ave. Burial will follow at Moravian Cemetery.
