Nina C. Gelzinis
Nina C. Gelzinis, 95, passed away on October 8, 2019 at the Heritage Hall East Nursing Home. Born in Springfield on October 18, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Celestino and Artavilla (Parrazola) Alessandri. She worked most of her life as a dedicated homemaker raising three wonderful boys and later worked for Breck Shampoo and Hartz Mountain pet supplies of West Springfield. She was an excellent cook known for her many homemade Italian dishes and especially loved to prepare homemade desserts. Nina was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Conception Church West Springfield. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband Edward F. Gelzinis and her sisters Madeline Alessandri, Florence Alessandri, Yolanda Welch, Columbia Jones and Joanna Wojtowicz. To cherish her loving memory, she leaves behind her sons, John Gelzinis and Christine, Edward Gelzinis and Rina and Joseph Gelzinis and a very loving and cherished granddaughter Justine Gelzinis. She also leaves behind a brother, Charles Alessandri and a sister Cecilia Alessandri as well as many nieces and nephews and their families. The funeral will be held at the West Springfield Curran-Jones Funeral Home Friday, Oct. 18th, at 9:00am with Liturgy in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 10:00am followed by burial in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, Oct. 17th, from 4:00 – 7:00pm. For more details please visit curranjones.com .
