Janice R. "Jane" (Egli) Winstead Evansville - Jane was born March 29, 1934 to the late Louis & Gladys (Lewis) Egli. Jane graduated from Reitz High School in 1952. She met her husband Jim on a blind date in 1952. They married on March 6, 1955 at the St. Matthews United Church of Christ. Jane was one of the first women in Evansville who became a Real Estate Agent to sell residential property. However her home life and family were more important and she chose to stay home and help raise her daughter and grandchildren. During the course of their 63 years of marriage, Jane and her husband Jim enjoyed traveling abroad. Some of their most favorite destinations were South Africa, Switzerland & Australia. Jane's hobbies included Stained Glass Art, Boating on the Ohio River with friends and family and enjoying time in their summer home on Lake Barkley. But most of all, Jane enjoyed watching and helping her 3 granddaughters grow up to be strong independent women. During their high schools days, she thoroughly enjoyed their Band contests and Soccer Tournaments. Jane is survived by her daughter Jamie Winstead, her granddaughters Stephanie (Lee) Dimmett of Boonville, IN, Kristina (Rob) Deters of Chandler, IN and Kelli Jo Winstead of Evansville, IN. 5 Great-Grandchildren, Kaitlyn & Kaleb Dimmett, Robert & Julia Deters and Daeja Brown. Sister-in-Law Jean Holder of Fort Branch, IN, Nieces Alanda Hendricks, Jan Holder Brice and Jo Odem, Nephew Mark (Dawn) Fields. Jane would also like to acknowledge her extended family for their love and support. Pat (Ria) Allen, Sarah (John) Hinsey, Mike (Geema) McGraw, Kathy (Doug) Behr and Marsha Singer. A special word of gratitude and appreciation to Laura Hill for taking such special care of Jane during her illness. Jane's husband Jim preceded her in death in January 2019 along with her sister Maxine Goss in 2009. A gathering will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue in Evansville, IN, where a Celebration of Life will begin at 6:00 p.m. with Father Ted Tempel officiating. The body will be cremated & in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Granted formerly (The Wish upon a Star foundation), 4445 Commerce St., Ste 108, Evansville, IN 47710 or Heart to Heart Hospice, 2532 Waterbridge Way, Evansville, IN 47710.
