In memory of
Larry P. Bryant
Larry P. Bryant, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019. He was born in Birmingham, AL, February 23, 1935. Larry went to Auburn University where he was a Kappa Alpha. Upon graduation he went to work for The Bama Company in Birmingham and was transferred to Houston, Texas. Wanting to get back to Birmingham, he began working for Gorrie Regan until his retirement in 1999. He was a resident of Homewood and never lived more than a few miles from his childhood home. Larry was a life long sports lover. He faithfully rooted for his Auburn Tigers but loved watching other SEC teams too. He was cyclist, brave enough to ride the mountains of Birmingham, in traffic. When not riding he was running through Homewood in his signature white Adidas with green stripes. Larry was an avid pilot, and his favorite place to visit was Destin, FL. As a bachelor, Larry did not cook for himself. When it came to eating, his favorite food was BBQ. He was such a regular at Demetri's they placed a plaque above his favorite table. While dining there, Larry met his best friend, Betty Davis. Betty and her grandson Morgan Smith faithfully looked after him when his health started to decline. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Frank Peek Bryant, mother, Susie Emma Chappell Bryant, brother Frank P. Bryant Jr., and his longtime friend Betty Davis. He is survived by his brother, Alex C. Bryant (Jane), niece, Cammie Monroe (Cary), nephew, Alex Bryant Jr. and his daughter Kayla Wallner (Tristen). He will be missed by Betty's three girls: Lou Ellyn Bagwell (John), Cecilia Foltz (Larry), Jamie Fitzwater and their families. There will be a graveside service at Elmwood Cemetery, 600 Martin Luther King Jr. Dr, Birmingham, AL, on Saturday October 12, 2019 at 11am. Following the service family and friends will share stories and celebrate Larry over lunch at Demetri's, 1901 28th Ave South, Birmingham, AL. In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be sent to the Homebound Ministry of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church, 1114 Oxmoor Road, Birmingham, AL 35209.
