Kurt L. Thoens Beloved husband, devoted father; Vietnam War veteran Kurt L. Thoens of Kearny, N.J., formerly of North Bergen, passed away on Oct. 8, 2019. He was 71. Born in Jersey City, N.J., he was a captain at the Hudson County Jail and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Visiting will be Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Armitage Wiggins Funeral Home, 596 Belgrove Dr., Kearny. The service is Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home and entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Thoens was the beloved husband of Jean Thoens (nee Walasek), devoted father of Kurt Thoens and his wife, Vanessa and Michele Ferian and her husband, Michael. He was the brother of the late Joan Boyle, William, Raymond, Robert, Allen and Douglas Thoens; brother in-law of Geraldine Koumiss, Susan, Diana and the late Patricia Thoens and Jack Boyle. He was the loving uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers kindly consider a donation to The Kessler Foundation.
