Barbara Christoph Gager Brighton - October 5, 2019. Predeceased by her husband, Warrren C. Gager and granddaughter, Emily Jane Gager. She is survived by children, Warren E. (Debora) Gager, Catherine (David) Gailey, Paula (Gary) Gianforti, Nadine (Anthony) Compisi, Eric (Susan) Gager, Andrew (Christine) Gager; grandchildren, Sarah Gager, Kathleen Sutch (Stephen Pfeil), Patrick Sutch (Alexis Belle Crum), Lauren (Jeff) Kuczynski, Erin Gager (Jesse Chladil), Kimberly Gailey, Kelly (Michol) Murray, Michael (Sarah) Gailey, Peter (Michelle) Gailey, Benjamin (Amber) and Adrian Gianforti, Adam (Meredith), Ellen, Paul (Sara) and Anne Gager (Bryan Grzeck); 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Grace) Christoph; several cousins. Barbara graduated from Nazareth Academy after which she went to work for the county. She stayed there until she was married and pregnant with her first child. Barbara and her husband Warren spent most of their married lives in Brighton where they raised their six children. She was the consummate mother and homemaker. Few were the domestic skills she didn't possess and demonstrate nearly flawlessly. She cooked, baked, sewed clothing, knitted, quilted, canned, preserved, repaired, cleaned, managed all home budget items, and, a multitude of other household responsibilities. When her children were mostly grown, she went back to college, earning a degree in food service administration. She received the highest academic honor bestowed on undergraduates while there. This launched a successful career outside of the home overseeing school meal programs in various educational settings. Barbara was a devout Roman Catholic. In many ways it defined her life and purpose. Her faith saw her through many difficult challenges, including two bouts of cancer. She never wavered in her beliefs and prayed for the day she would have her eternal reward. A special thanks to the staff on 3rd Floor Reservoir at St. John's Home for the endless kindness and care they provided to Barbara. Friends may call Friday, October 11, from 4-7 PM at the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, October 12, 10 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 601 Edgewood Ave. Rochester, 14618. Interment at White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace. To share a memory of Barbara or send a condolence to the family visit www.anthonychapels.com .
