Cecile Goodwin Evansville - Cecile Goodwin, of Evansville, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019 at her home. She was born in Evansville to the late Cecil and Donna (Putman) Corbett. She was baptized at a young age at Trinity Lutheran Church and later in life served on the Altar Guild. Cecile graduated from South Chicago Community School of Nursing and worked in hospitals in Chicago, IL, Hammond, IN, and Evansville, IN. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer where she was an early member of and named the ladies group, Sisters of Joy. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain Henry Vanderburgh Chapter, a Charter member of the United Daughters of 1812, Daughters of the Union, First Families of Tennessee, the AmVETS Ladies' Auxiliary, the VFW 1114 Ladies' Auxiliary, the Republican Federated Women's Club, the Eagles, the Owls, and Riverbend Association. Cecile was very active and served the Republican Party for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Gerald) Peerman; son, Ralph Goodwin; daughter, Sandy Banks; sons, Gary Goodwin, John Goodwin and Mark (Vickie) Goodwin; grandchildren, Lynn (Dave) Huff, Jerry (Bonnie) Peerman, Larry (Trish) Peerman, Jeffery (Christine) Peerman, Julie (Bob) Moser, Ralph (Jenny) Goodwin II, Erik and Aaron Banks, David (Edith) Goodwin, Brandon (Kayla) Goodwin, Thomas (Bobbie) Ward, Kelly (Russell) Stoner, Gary, Randall and Jamie Peach, Michelle (Carl Tafel) Hales; 26 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Cecile is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 33 years, William Goodwin; son, Allen Goodwin; daughters, Donna and Hope Goodwin; grandson, Robert Hales; long-time companion, Daniel Jourdan; sister, Joyce Sumner and brothers, Ralph Corbett and Dennis Dale Corbett. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Ziemer Funeral Home Central Chapel, 626 N. First Ave., Evansville, 47710 where the D.A.R. will have a service at 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Wenig officiating. Burial will be at Parklawn Cemetery, 1526 S. Green River Rd., Evansville, 47715.
