Carolyn S. Clark
Carolyn S. Clark (Salo) RN and CRA, of Drexel Hill PA passed away on Tuesday October First after a courageous fifteen year battle with breast cancer. She was born in Oceanside NY and grew up in Vestal NY. She was a graduate of Vestal Senior High School and Orange County Community College.
She was predeceased by her father Wilho Salo, her brother Clifford Salo, and her step daughter Brittany Clark.
She is survived by her husband of twenty one years Thomas, her mother Muriel Salo, her sister Liisa Watson, and brother-in-law Terry, and their children Sarah (Roman), Troy, and Leena McLane (Carter) and husband Mike.
Her sister Kate Knapp and brother-in-law John, and their children Elsa, Karina, and Harrison.
Her sister-in-law Gwendolyn (Salo) Clarke and her children Valerie Fratter (Jonah and Ezra) and husband Scott, Emily Bender (Lydia and Leif) and husband Jesse, and Virginia Strober and husband Zeke.
Her lifelong friend Marcia Reilly.
Her very close friend Rebecca Oveidia.
Her very close friend and colleague Keith McIlhenny.
Carolyn worked as an RN during the seventies and eighties at various hospitals including Duke University Hospital in Durham NC, Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton NY, Charles S Wilson Memorial Hospital in Johnson City NY, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda MD and George Washington Hospital in Washington DC.
During the nineties, two thousands and teens she worked as a CRA for various Pharmaceutical companies including Immune Response Corporation in Carlsbad CA, PPD and Abbott Laboratory's locally and Neurocrine Biosciences in San Diego CA, monitoring clinical drug trials in the pursuit of bringing new medicines to the market.
Over the years she travelled extensively throughout the country including Puerto Rico to visit her sites. She developed many close friendships while performing this work.
In addition to her travels for work, she loved to travel for leisure, visiting many places throughout the US, Canada and Mexico as well as Europe, Asia, Central and South America and many Caribbean and Atlantic islands.
Two of her favorite destinations were the Country of Italy and the Mohonk Mountain House. She became a million miler in her frequent flyer program as a result of all of her air travel.
She was very proud of her Finnish heritage.
She loved all animals and had many loving pets over the years.
She was always up for a challenging crossword puzzle, a game of scrabble and loved watching Jeopardy!
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
There will be no funeral services.
