PEORIA - Barbara L. Reed, 86, of Peoria, formerly of Rio, died at 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria. She was born June 10, 1933, in Maquon, to Albert and Parepa (Tompkins) Doubet. She married Glenn Austin Reed on Dec. 21, 1974, at Maquon United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2016. Barbara was also preceded in death by her parents; one stepdaughter, Constance McCollum; and one brother, Don Doubet. Surviving is one daughter, Robbie (Donald) Marvel of Peoria; two stepchildren, Vickie Bobbitt and Michael (Pepper) Reed; two grandchildren, Michelle (Marc White) Marvel of Peoria and Jason Marvel of Peoria; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ben, Tyson and Jacob; one brother, Dorrance (Carol) Doubet; and one sister-in-law, Doris Doubet. Barbara worked as a seamstress at Gross in Galesburg. She was a member of the Spoon River Antique Club and the Maquon Good Cheer. Barbara raised calves and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, Christmas candy and navigating for Glenn when they went flying. Graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019, at Yates City Cemetery in Yates City. Pastor Andy Sonneborn will officiate. Memorials may be made to OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home.
