ATKINS, Frances Frances Schenk Atkins, age 85, of Farmers Branch, TX, passed away on September 7, 2019. She was born August 15, 1934, in Dallas, TX, to August Schenk, Jr. and Maudrue Lavinia (Lamb) Schenk. Frances was a Farmers Branch resident since 1959 and she attended Christ United Methodist Church where she was a very loyal and faithful member. She was a devout Christian and loving mother. Her family came first at all times. In High School, Frances was a proud member of the National Honor Society and a Rainbow Girl. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, and UMYF Leader. Frances was involved with the Farmers Branch Women's Club, several Bridge Clubs, a Bunco player, Garden Club, Antique Club, and Gourmet Club. She was an avid and very loud Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns fan. She was known for making her world-famous peanut brittle. Frances was an amazing lady. She will be missed dearly. Frances is survived by her son: Mike Atkins and wife Pam of Rockwall, TX; daughter: Amy Dunkerton of Pottsboro, TX; grandchildren: Lauren Atkins, Meredith Atkins, Haley Dunkerton, and Clayton Dunkerton; and nephew: Wylie Schenk. She was preceded in death by her husband: Clay Atkins, Jr.; brother: Gus Schenk; and her parents. A celebration of life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Christ United Methodist Church of Farmers Branch, officiated by Rev. Scott Holcomb-McLain and Rev. Daniel Humbert. A reception will be held after the service at the church. Memorial contributions in memory of Frances may be to the Christ United Methodist Church.
