Douglas A. MacPhail
Douglas A. MacPhail, age 77, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on September 6, 2019. He was born in Springfield on March 24, 1942 to the late Harold and Genevieve (Carroll) MacPhail. He graduated from Technical High School, retired from Verizon after working 36 years as an installer/coin operator for Verizon, and then worked 5 years for the Springfield Newspapers. Douglas leaves the love of his life of 46 years Joan MacPhail of Springfield; sons Thomas A. MacPhail of Monson and Douglas J. MacPhail of East Longmeadow; step son John Barth and his wife Cathy of Enfield; step daughters Susan Kalagher and her husband Kevin of Enfield, and Mary Serrenho and her husband Michael of Brimfield; step son in law Anthony LaClair of Biddeford, Maine; and sister Jacquelyn Egan and her husband Robert of Beacon Falls, CT. He also leaves 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren including his best friend/great granddaughter Cassie, and 7 nieces and nephews. Douglas was predeceased by his daughter Christine MacPhail, step daughter Laura LaClair, and his brother Richard MacPhail. A private service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 11am at Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations and memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA.
