Sharon McLeod Hannon
Sharon McLeod Hannon, 63, from Lucedale, Mississippi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving husband and family Sunday evening Sept. 1, 2019. Sharon was born on March 20, 1956, in Lucedale, Mississippi, to Floyd and Mae McLeod. She graduated from Leakesville High School and studied at Jones Jr. College and graduated from the University of Southern Miss. Sharon started a career as a hairstylist in Laurel, Mississippi, and later became a teacher in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She married the love of her life, Paul Hannon of Tallahassee, Florida. Together, they moved to Panama City, Florida, where they have spent the last 32 years. Sharon taught at Lynn Haven Elementary for numerous years. She was a passionate first- and second-grade teacher and touched the lives of many young children. She made many lifelong friends during her time teaching at Lynn Haven Elementary. Sharon enjoyed her time most when spent with her beloved husband and their families. She also enjoyed spending time with her "sisterhood" of girlfriends, bunko ladies, quilt guild and numerous Bible study groups over the years. She was an avid cook and an excellent baker. She had a knack for hosting and entertaining. She was a member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Mae McLeod; and brothers, Reginald "Reggie" McLeod and Johnny McLeod. Sharon is survived by her husband, Paul Hannon; daughter, Shay Dowgul (James); stepchildren, Tamera Hannon (Kris), Devin Hannon (Meghan); eight grandchildren, Paige Bunker, Matthew Greeley, Alexis Greeley, Tyler Greeley, Mallory, Cadence, Isabella Dowgul and coming soon, Olivia Dowgul; four sisters; mother-in-law, Jackie Stubbs; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at Southerland Event Center at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. The family will receive visitors immediately afterward. Memorial contributions may be made to Lynn Haven United Methodist Church or Vernal Presbyterian Church in Lucedale, Mississippi.
