Clifford E. Beers PALMER TOWNSHIP Clifford E. Beers, 95, of Palmer Township, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in Old Orchard Health Care Center. Born June 26, 1924, in Phillipsburg, NJ, he was a son of the late Clifford N. and Edith (Kuss) Beers. He and his wife, Betty Mae (Pysher) Beers, would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Sept. 17, 2019. Clifford was a 1942 graduate of Wilson High School and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He retired in 1985 from Homer Research Labs where he was employed for 26 years. Prior to that, he worked for the former General Aniline & Film. After retirement, he worked part-time at T & T Reloading, Stockertown. Clifford enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, target shooting and gardening. He was a member of St. Jane Frances de Chantal Catholic Church. Clifford was a life member of Suburban Rescue where he was a past president, was a former EMT and had taught Red Cross classes. He was also a life member of Avona Volunteer Fire Company, Point Phillips Rod and Gun Club, and Easton Fish and Game where he had been a board chairman. He was a member of Brown & Lynch American Legion Post 9, the National VFW and the NRA. Surviving in addition to his wife Betty are a son, Michael J. Beers and his wife, Karen, of Glendon Borough; a sister, Virginia Bussenger of Palmer Township; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Corey Michael Beers, and a brother, Joseph J. Beers. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in St. Jane's Catholic Church, 4049 Hartley Ave., Palmer Township. Call Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. The Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson Borough, is in charge of arrangements.
