Shirley A. Cappellano EASTON, PA Shirley A. Cappellano, 89, formerly of Easton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, in Brakeley Park Center, Phillipsburg, NJ. Born Aug. 9, 1930, in Hellertown, PA, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Blanche (Pearson) Zimmer. Her husband of 51 years, John A. Cappellano, passed away Sept. 29, 2000. Shirley graduated from Moravian Preparatory School, class of 1948. She retired as a nurse's aide from the former VNA of Easton. Shirley was a member of Allegro Club of the YWCA. She had been a Girl Scout leader for over 20 years, volunteering at Echo Ridge Camp, where she inspired many young girls. She enjoyed gardening, bridge club with her dear friends, and bird watching, participating in the Annual Christmas Bird Count for many years. Years ago, she also enjoyed trips to the shore. Her greatest joy in life were her children. Surviving are two sons, John and his wife, Norah of Boston and Michael and his wife, Beth of Jamison, PA; two daughters, Linda Cappellano of Warrenton, VA, and Barbara A. DeStefano and her husband, Arky of Easton; a sister, Babette Hart and her husband, Watson of Palmer Township. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, John Cappellano and his wife, Esther; Julie Whittaker and her husband, Derek; Joseph Kmiecinski and his wife, Erin; Michael Kmiecinski and his wife, Jennifer; Jessica Danyluk and her partner, Kevin George; Major William Danyluk and his wife, April; Greg Cappellano and Lauren Chapman and her husband, Daniel; 11 great-grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize all of the staff and caregivers at Brakeley Park Center for the years of special care they provided. Private arrangements are under the direction of the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Wilson Borough. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
