In memory of
Albert F. Curry
Albert F. Curry, 91 Retired NYPD detective and WWII veteran, Great Kills resident Albert F. Curry, 91, of Great Kills, Staten Island, N.Y., passed away on Aug. 31, 2019. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the husband of the late Claire O'Neill, who passed away in May 2003. Al and Claire moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island in 1963, where they raised a family of seven in Great Kills. Al was the father of Kenneth, Barbara Curry Sforza, Raymond, Albert, Edward, Joseph and Anne, grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of one. Al was a lifelong Mets fan after the Dodgers moved from Brooklyn and hardly ever missed a game. The 1969 Mets Championship was one of his favorite sport highlights in his baseball memories. He was a police officer for 34 years and retired as a detective as a member of the detail assigned to the Mayor's Office in the Intelligence Division at City Hall. He was also a proud World War II Army veteran, stationed in Paris after its liberation. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Claire (the love of his life), would have been married 67 years this past August. Family was always his priority. Dad was a very kind and devoted family man, had a wonderful sense of humor, the best laugh ever, and will be greatly missed. A Memorial Mass will be held in St Clare R.C. Church this Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. For further information, please contact Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home.
