Lawrence Marcario Staten Island native was 'the heart of his family' Lawrence Marcario died quietly at home on Aug. 26, 2019, in Lutz, Fla. Born May 17, 1930 in Bayonne, N.J., Larry was the son of Marco and Rose Marcario. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Rosemary, and three children, Larry (Eleanor) Marcario of Montgomery County, N.Y., Linda (Stephen) Wells of Odessa, Fla., and Leslie (Mark) Mazzuki of Bradenton, Fla., in addition to six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Mark (Marie) Marcario of Ocean, N.J., and Vincent (Delores) Marcario of Virginia. Larry grew up on Staten Island, N.Y., and went to Curtis High School, where he met the love of his life Rosemary Grimaldi, also of Staten Island, who he married before being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served in Korea as a wireman. Following his military service, he worked in auto repair and the fuel oil business until he settled into a career as a steamfitter with NYC Board of Education. His passion was youth football, where he both coached teams and served as a board member and president with the Staten Island Boys Football League. Larry retired to Florida in 1992 where he continued to be the heart of his family. He enjoyed cooking, writing, carpentry and gathering with family members. He was dedicated to his children and his nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation ( https://tunnel2towers.org/ ).
