William Loyd Lee Martin Sr., age 92, of Adamsville, AL went to be with the Lord at his home on Tuesday, August 13, 2019. Loyd was a Veteran of World War II Army Air Force where he was a mechanic and worked on P51 Mustang Spitfire planes. He retired from Ryder Truck Rental as a mechanic. He was a faithful member of Forestdale Freewill Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Geneva Nix Martin; parents, Amos Martin and Eunice Britt Martin; brothers Lowell Martin and Billy Joe Martin. He leaves behind his daughter; Abigail (Larry) Neal; sons, Bill (Sue) Martin and Jim (Sylvia) Martin; grandchildren Christy (Richard) Taylor, Missy (P.J.) Gurley, Alicia (Greg) Gunter, Steven (Serena) Martin, Amanda (Jordon) Thomas and Rachel Atwood as well as 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, August 16, 2019 at Forestdale Freewill Baptist Church, 2615 Veterans Memorial Drive, Birmingham, AL. The service will begin at 11 am with visitation held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at New Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Cemetery, Nauvoo, AL. Thank you to his caregiver, Norma Perkins and Alacare/Encompass Hospice of Jasper, AL. In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Trinity Freewill Baptist Camp, 1835 Co.
