Peter Anthony DeGioia
age 74, born Aug 29, 1944, passed away Jul 15, 2019. at Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, OH after a 10 year battle with ALS. He leaves behind long-time friend, Cindy Harley, son, Nathan DeGioia (Kathryn), daughter, Carolyn Ballou (David), daughter, Laura Quinn (Erin), grandchildren, Sophia, Alex, Sylvia, Josette and Eliza, his sister, Janice Tracey, loving friends, Brittany Lahr of WI and Tony Barron of CA, and all of his wonderful caregivers at Main Street Care Center. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, William A. DeGioia, Rita Y. LaPointe and his brother, Billy DeGioia. Born on August 29, 1944 in New Haven, CT. He graduated from Michigan Tech, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Peter was sought after and recruited by General Motors while still in college. He started his career as a metallurgical engineer for GM in Sandusky, OH. It was there that he met his former wife, Sandy. For the last 15 years of his career, Peter worked as a self-employed international consultant. Once diagnosed with ALS, Peter moved from Racine, WI to a nursing facility in Avon Lake, OH to be closer to his children. In his spare time he enjoyed photography, and listening to jazz and classical music. May he rest in peace.
