Barbara (Grider) Blackwell Evansville, Ind. - Barbara (Grider) Blackwell, 81, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at Bethel Manor. Barbara was born in Evansville on October 14, 1937 to the late Claude and Gertrude (Coleman) Grider. She worked at Shane Manufacturing where she made overalls. After her time at Shane Manufacturing, Barbara was a Certified Nurses Assistant at various nursing facilities across the tri-state. Upon retiring, Barbara babysat for many children. She loved crossword and jigsaw puzzles, Cardinals baseball, Hallmark movies, and was an avid reader. Barbara especially enjoyed days she spent shopping with her best friends. Barbara is survived by her daughters, Lisa Rheinhardt (Jack) of Boonville, IN and Brenda Blackwell (Wayne) of Evansville, IN; son, Bill Wall (April) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Rebecca, Melissa, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Dustin, Zack, and Averil; and four great-grandchildren with one on the way. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carroll "Blackie" D. Blackwell; sister, Mary Thompson; and brothers, Charles "Pete" Grider and Joseph Grider. A celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Dave Schwambach officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, and again from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Chemo Buddies, 3700 Bellemeade Ave. Suite 118, Evansville, IN 47714.
