Walter Kula
Walter A. (Wally) Kula passed away peacefully on August 12, 2019 at Carolyn's House in Harrisburg, PA. He was born July 18, 1926 to the late Walter J. and Katherine (Hodur) Kula. In his early Civil Service career, he was employed in electronics supply at Great Lakes Naval Station in Illinois. In 1974 he was transferred to the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA where he retired as a computer programmer and software specialist. He was also an AARP volunteer for 20 years preparing taxes for the elderly. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Enola, PA, Knights of Columbus Council #12404, NARFE, and AARP. He enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing cards at the Schaner Center, and was a lifelong, die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Jean (Nicpan) Kula, three daughters, Carol (Larry) Blackwood, Judy (Robert) Bell, Christine Kula, two grandsons, Joseph (Amanda) Bell, Christopher Bell, two sisters Betty Rygiel, Annette Jackson, one brother Robert (Diane) Kula, and sister-in-law Darlene Kula. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard. Viewing will be held on Friday, August 16 from 11 a.m.- 12 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes and a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at noon on Friday at the church.
