Arthur Lee Bliss
Arthur Lee Bliss June 1, 1939 - Aug. 7, 2019 Art was born to Chester and Rose Bliss who lived in the Portland and Milwaukie area. He went to Milwaukie High School. He met Rosina Jones and they were married Dec. 30, 1961. Two days after their wedding he received his draft notice and he enrolled in the Army receiving his training in Ft. Carson, Colo. Then it was off to Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. And eventually to Vietnam. He started Bliss Roofing in 1969. It is still active and being operated by Don Bliss. He is survived by Jan, Don (Karen), Deb, Michael (Sue) and Patrick (Amy) Bliss; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Also survived by his brother, Ron of Mokena, Ill. Art was so very proud of his children in their work ethics and their accomplishments. His brain deteriorated from dementia but his humor always stayed with him. He had many friends he had gathered throughout his life. He and Rosina traveled the United States several times in motorhomes following his sons racing careers. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every day that he could. He loved deeply and was always joking around and giving people nicknames that he remembered to the end. A service for Art will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019, at Willamette National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Wilhem's Portland Memorial.
