In memory of
Elayne Rosenberg Palm Springs - Elayne Rosenberg was surrounded by the love of her family when she took her last breath on July 15th 2019. Born in Chicago on August 25th 1922, Elayne, her husband Dave and their 4 children, Debra, Ira, Dennis and Kim, moved to Palm Springs in 1962, when there were still many dirt roads, and one stop light. Education and Child advocacy were always very important to Elayne. She worked as a seamstress while pursuing her Bachelor of Art's Degree from San Diego State. In 1968 she began teaching 2nd grade at Cielo Vista Elementary School. She received her Master's degree from La Verne College in 1975. Elayne went on to become acting director of the districts first Head Start Program. The Early Childhood Education Programs grew to include not only Head Start, but State Pre-school and Latch Key, where Elayne was instrumental in writing grants. At one time over 1000 children received the benefits of these programs. She truly made a difference. Upon retiring in 1987, Elayne continued to be an active and highly respected member of the community, teaching water aerobics for the Arthritis Foundation and leading exercise classes for the Better Breathers group at Desert Hospital. She lived life fully, with humor and immense love for her friends and family. Elayne is survived by her 3 remaining children, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and tons of friends. So Mom, we love you, we miss you and in honor of the words you lived by: Carpe Diem! Sieze the Day!
