Winkler, Charles E. My darling husband Charles (Chuck) Winkler, born August 25, 1931 in Santa Ana, passed away on July 15, 2019 after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his sister, Christine and brothers, Paul, Don, Ev and Ralph. Chuck attended Santa Ana Schools, graduating from Santa Ana High School in 1950 where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. He went to college at Santa Ana College and it was interrupted by the Korean War. He served in the Air Force as a Physical Training Instructor at Sheppard Air Base in Texas, as well as coaching a girls' basketball team at the base. He also coached 2 separate Northwest Little League teams in West Floral Park with Ed Kredel and years later with Gary Sedik. He was also on the selection committee for the Santa Ana College Athletic Hall of Fame. Chuck's career as a Director of Credit for Kwikform America took him traveling throughout the U.S. Besides being an avid sports fan, he excelled in golf winning many tournaments, playing courses throughout California, Arizona, Whistler Canada, and every Hawaiian Island. He also played in Scotland at St. Andrews, Turnberry, Gleneagles and Troon as well as attending the Masters and other tournaments in the US and England. Chuck was a favorite uncle to nieces, Sandy Sedik, Debra Broker, Barbara Kelly, Christine Winkler, Kelly Maestri, Elizabeth Frank, Paige Lafferty, Yasmin Vahdatpour; nephews, Gary Sedik, Howard Curtis, Christopher Sedik, Kevin Sedik, Danny Pagni; and god daughter, Analee Kredel-Speer. Thank you Chuck for 64 wonderful years of love, laughter and happiness. Your wife, Ann A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 11, 2019 at 12:00 noon at Brown Mortuary, 17th & Sycamore in Santa Ana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Chuck's name to the Assistance League of Santa Ana, 1037 W. 1st Street, Santa Ana 92703 to benefit Santa Ana children in need.
