John Warren Hicks
John Warren Hicks, age 75, passed away Tuesday July 30, 2019 in Fort Walton Beach, FL. He was born in 1943 in Fort Walton Beach to Pete and Hazel Hicks. John served his country for 27 years in the Army and retired as a First Sergeant. He was a Vietnam and Desert Storm veteran. After retirement, John worked for Horizons of Okaloosa County for 26 plus years. John had a passion for hunting. He loved spending countless hours in the woods hunting alongside his dogs. John was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings Lloyd, Lois, Herman, Dennis, and Joe Edward. John leaves cherished memories to his loving wife Myra Hicks; daughters Olga Michelle Kerwood (David) and Tanya Gogolla; sons Lee Michael Hicks and Timothy Gagolla; sisters Earlene Paul (Kenneth) and Jean Ryan; granddaughter Caitlyn Renee Shermer (Brian); great nephew Brandon Hicks (Stephanie) and their children John, Emily and Jordan; along with numerous other family members. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Rd, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. Family will receive friends one hour prior the services at the funeral home. Interment will follow the services at Barrancas National Cemetery.
