James F. Lomma
James F. Lomma, 73 Business owner and lifelong Staten Islander James F. Lomma, 73, of Staten Island passed away at his home on Sunday, July 14, 2019. Born on Nov. 24, 1945, in Staten Island, N.Y., he was the son of the late Lillian Lomma. He was a graduate of Tottenville High School. Mr. Lomma was an international sky crane CEO and entrepreneur. He was the proud owner of many successful and respected companies, which include J.F. Lomma Inc., TES Inc. and New York Crane. He truly enjoyed what he did for a living. His cranes helped build most of the major cities in our country and around the world. Mr. Lomma's humanitarian efforts are spread far and wide. He never wanted public recognition of his many acts of charity, but anyone who knew him could talk in length about the extraordinary lengths he would go, to help his friends and people in the construction world. He had a love of the ocean, and boating and sportfishing were a hobby and activity he enjoyed, for much of his life. He was a patron of the Great kills harbor yacht basin for many years. Over the years he studied aeronautics and became an accomplished pilot and owner of planes. He had an interest in motorcycles and muscle cars and collected several. He loved spending time with his family, and Sunday dinners with them were a tradition that he looked forward to each week. He was a devoted father of three children. He is survived by his daughter, Jenifer Gabel, Lauren Lomma and his son, James B. Lomma; his son-in law, Steven Gabel; two grandchildren; his brother, Patrick Lomma and his sister-in-law, Gail lomma and his niece and nephew, Jessie and Patrick Lomma. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia home for funerals Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, N.Y.
