Marianne Battaglia Brandon
Marianne Battaglia Brandon, 68 of Mountain Brook, went to be with her Lord on July 10, 2019. She is preceeded in death by her parents Louise Carnaggio Battaglia, Paul Dominick Battaglia. She is survived by Glenn Brandon, their two children Paul Brandon (Leah), Sumerlin Simpson (Connor) and her two brothers, Ron and Robert Battaglia. She was a graduate of John Carroll High School, Auburn (BS), Alabama (Masters) and Birmingham School of Law (JD). She began her career at the Talladega School of the Deaf and Blind. Then she worked at Caraway Hospital, followed by the Executive Director of the Alabama Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis. She put her life into CF and made connections with all families and children. She then worked at a financial planning firm before retiring as a substitute-teacher. Family values were very important to her, instilled by her late parents, Marianne carried those values throughout her life and everyone she touched and a true blessing to everyone who knew her. She was a wonderful mother to her children, and devoted wife to her husband. In addition to her family, Marianne had a support group of friends and family from all walks of life and generations. Serving meals on wheels for 10 years, working with deaf children, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation were a few of her passions. She was a faithful and active participant in her church, St. Francis Xavier. She was a selfless person which she demonsrated through her current project of knitting clothes for premature babies. She was talented in crafts, painting, writing and a wonderful cook. Anyone who knew her enjoyed her quick wit. Visitation will be held at Ridout's Valley Chapel Sunday, July 14th 4-6. Funeral service will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Monday, July 15th at 11:00 with visitation preceding at 10:00. Burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
