George Flemmer Feb. 4, 1930 - June 26, 2019 George Flemmer was born Feb. 4, 1930 in Zap, N.D., his father was Jacob Flemmer and his mother was Christiana (Voegele) Flemmer. George was baptized and confirmed in Zap. In March 1951 he entered the Army served for two years, stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1953. On Feb. 4, 1954 he married Gertie Fischer at the Lutheran Church in Zap. He worked as a Uke operator at the Garrison Dam before moving to Portland, Ore., in 1956. Together George and Gert had five daughters. His passions were his garden, the rugs he made on his Dad's loom, fishing and hunting. George loved flowers. On Feb. 4, 2019 they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. He passed away at home June 26, 2019, in his favorite chair with his wife and family by his side. George is survived by his wife, Gert; daughters, Essie, husband, Randy, Donna, husband, Herb, Judy, husband, Jim, Georgette, husband, Bill, and Doreen; grandchildren, Amber, husband, Mike, Levi, Madeline, Wesley and Justin. He has one surviving sister, Esther Ott, in North Dakota. George was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Lydia Becker and Irene Wiedrich; his four brothers, Ludwig, Karl, Conrad and Mike; and five infant siblings.
