GALESBURG - Roger G. Blevins, 71, of Galesburg, passed away July 4, 2019, at home and was cremated. Roger was born Nov. 7, 1947, to Robert and Eleanor Blevins. He married Alice Powell on Nov. 22, 1969. Preceding him in death was his paternal and maternal grandparents; his parents; his sister, Patty; and his wife, Alice. Surviving are his brother, Terry (Janice) of Washington, Illinois; his son, Justin of Galesburg; his daughter, Mindy (Kelvin) McCabe of Avon; his granddaughters, Katie and Khloe McCabe of Avon; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces and friends. Roger was reared and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School in 1965. Roger was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, serving from Oct. 27, 1966 to Aug. 2, 1968 with a Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant. He was a concrete finisher prior to his retirement and belonged to Operative Plasters and Cement Mason Union Local 18. He was also a member of the Knoxville American Legion Post 749. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Linwood Cemetery, Rev. James Ecklund will officiate, followed by a Celebration of Life at the Knoxville American Legion, 1395 Henderson Road, Knoxville. All family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of plants and flowers, the family is requesting that a memorial donation be made to the Knoxville American Legion.
