Rosaria Zarella, 82 Homemaker, an example of strength and courage to her family Rosaria Zarrella, 82, of Great Kills, N.Y., passed away on Monday, June 17, 2019, at Staten Island University Hospital North, surrounded by her loving family. Born Thursday, Jan. 28, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Mary Russo LaGreca and Charles LaGreca. Rose, a homemaker, was a true example of strength and courage to her family. She adored her loving mother who predeceased her, but her life was her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rose wanted to know every detail about them, so much so, that they lovingly nicknamed her "Nosey Rosie". Rose will be remembered forever for her sharp wit and generous heart. She was the beloved wife for 62 years of Peter Zarrella; loving mother of Dominick Zarrella, Mary Sue Ievolo and Roseann Mulham; mother-in-law of Liz Zarella, Peter Ievolo and John Mulham; dear sister of Grace Giglio and Dolores Zarrella and husband, Joseph, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday at Our Lady Star of The Sea located at 5411 Amboy Road Staten Island, N.Y. 10312. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, N.Y. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019, at John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, N.Y.
