Richard T. Buonato, 73 June 16, 1945 - June 9, 2019 Richard passed away peacefully on June 9, 2019, with his family by his side. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Buonato; daughters, Lisa Ajello and Nicole D'Alessandro and her husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Lila Ajello and Emma D'Alessandro; brothers, Robert Buonato and James Buonato. He was the cherished brother of the late Betty Welch and Joann Dunn and beloved son of the late James and Lillian Buonato. Richard was raised in Brooklyn and then moved to Staten Island later on. He was a devoted husband, father, poppa, brother and friend. Richard was a very intelligent, honest, caring man of integrity who loved life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cruising, and going to Atlantic City. He was an avid Mets, Giants and Rangers fan. He always put his family before himself. Richard served in the U.S. Army for four years. He graduated from Brooklyn College and Baruch College with a bachelor's and master's degree in business and accounting. He was the vice president and controller for Carl Icahn & Company his entire career. Richard was very dedicated to his job and fond of everyone who worked alongside of him. Richard will be missed greatly by all those who had the privilege to know and love him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude at St. Jude.org , since donating to sick children was very important to him. Memorial visitation will be held at the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd., Saturday, June 22, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.. with a Memorial Mass to follow at Holy Family R.C.
