In memory of
F. H. "Skip" Saunders
F.H. 'Skip' Saunders March 18, 1938 - June 8, 2019 F.H. "Skip" Saunders passed away Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the age of 81 after struggling with health issues over the past few years. Skip was born March 18, 1938 in Newberg, Ore., the son of Bill and Marcella Saunders. He spent his early years in the Aloha/Huber area. After his freshman year at Beaverton High School, his family, which now included his younger sister Marcia, moved to Salem where he graduated from South Salem High School in 1956. He then attended Willamette University for a short time. Skip spent the next 30 years working as a plywood wholesaler for various companies, taking him to Roseburg, Atlanta and Tulsa. He and his family, wife JoAnne and three small children settled in Portland in 1968 where he continued to work in that industry until 1988 when he retired from Greenwood Forest Products at the age of 50. He married Connie (Johnston) in September of 1988. Skip was a licensed pilot and in the 80's and early 90's spent many an afternoon just "flying around." During his retirement years, Skip spent much of his time on his scooter - with his wife Connie, or dear friends Pat or Cindy. He and Connie would take annual week-long trips, often times with scooter riding buddies Kurt and Janet. Canada, California and Montana were some of his favorites. He was also an avid reader and loved "playing" on his computer. Skip was predeceased by his parents; and the mother of his children, JoAnne Gilman. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife, Connie of Tigard; sister, Marcia Rogers of Wilsonville; son, Tyler (Karen) of Bend; son, Todd (Karen) of Newberg; daughter, Tiffany (Richard) of Beaverton; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends who will miss his humor and fun-loving spirit. There will be a celebration of Skip's life at 4 p.m., Saturday, June 29, 2019, at Langdon Farms in Wilsonville. Please bring a story or memory to share in Skip's honor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests remembrances be made to Oregon Dog Rescue in care of Macy and Son in McMinnville.
