Peter G. Malloy
Peter G. Malloy, 55 Worker's compensation attorney; award-winning homebrewer Peter G. Malloy, 55, passed away due to a heart attack on Monday, June 3, 2019. He was the loving husband of Ellen (nee Masterson) for 31 years and proud father of Alison, Ryan, and Kaitlin. He was the son of Christine Malloy and the late James Malloy; the brother of Kathleen Malloy, James Malloy, Marianne Malloy, and Thomas Malloy, and the brother-in-law of Andrea Malloy and Rosemarie Malloy. He was the uncle to many nieces and nephews and the great-uncle to many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Colby Hawkins, and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. Extremely hardworking and intelligent, Peter graduated from SUNY New Paltz with a B.A. in English in 1986, and from New York Law School with a J.D. in 2003. He worked at the Bank of New York and the New York State Insurance Fund prior to graduating from law school. He then worked as a workers' compensation attorney from 2003 until the time of his passing. Peter was an award-winning homebrewer who dreamt of opening his own brewery one day with his brother. Often referred to as "the smartest guy in the room," Peter seemed to know all the answers to Jeopardy questions. He greatly looked forward to his annual vacations with family and friends. His children were his pride and joy. He spent countless hours helping them with their homework assignments and college searches. He supported them throughout their athletic careers, even volunteering as a soccer coach for eight years. He was his childrens' number-one fan. Arrangements are through Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, June 12, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral service is at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church on Thursday, June 13, at 11:15 a.m., followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
