Edna E. Donegan
Edna E. (Mellberg) Donegan, age 93, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 8, 2019. She was born in Arlington, MA on November 10, 1925 to the late Evert and Dorothy (Baker) Mellberg. Edna graduated from Commerce High School. She worked at the former Shawmut Bank in banking and investment before retiring. Edna was a member of the 16 Acres Golden Ages. She loved the beach and spent many summers at Hampton Beach, NH and Cape Cod. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing Bingo. Edna loved spending time with her daughters and got much joy from time spent with all her grandchildren. Edna was predeceased by her husband David J. Donegan who passed away in 1990. She leaves three daughters, Linda Clark and her husband Larry of Wilbraham, Laura Cienciwa and her husband Michael of Wilbraham and Mary Ellen Cavallini of Wilbraham; her seven grandchildren, James Clark and Margeaux Gilfoil, Lauren Gonzalez (Jacob), Kristen Piescik (Jeremiah), David and his fiancee Stephanie Martin, Eric, and Melanie Cienciwa and Oliver Cavallini. She also leaves two great grandchildren, Nathan Gonzalez and Walter Piescik; and her brother Leonard Mellberg (Pam), as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Ernest Mellberg and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Margaret Goldrick. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres, 21 Tinkham Rd, Springfield, MA 01129. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 13, 2019 beginning at 10:00 am in St. Patrick’s Church, 1900 Allen St. Springfield, MA 01118. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Rd, Springfield, MA 01129. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
