Matthew E. Becker, 84 Navy veteran ; his loyalty to family and friends knew no bounds Matthew E. Becker, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and in 1969 settled in South Beach. Matthew was a loving husband, father.grandfather and great grandfather. His never wavering love, loyalty, kindness, dedication and service to family and friends knew no bounds. Matthew, a true patriot, was a US Navy Veteran who served in the Korean War. Matthew worked in various brokerage firms and retired in 1989 as a Vice President. He also owned and operated SI Sportscards in Princes Bay for over 25 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was an avid card player. He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Grace. Loving father to Chris (Susan) and Susan DiFiore (Ralph). Devoted grandfather of Christopher, Brittany, Dominick and Paige and great grandfather to Olivia, Grayson and Braxton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at the John Vincent Scalia Home For Funerals, Inc., 28 Eltingville Blvd. S.I. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019, at St. Patrick's Church located at 53 St. Patrick's Place, S.I. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
