Richard Louis Dury, 90 Aug. 13, 1928 - June 5, 2019 Richard Louis Dury, a long-time resident of New Dorp, Staten Island, passed away on June 5, 2019, at Eger Nursing Home after a brief illness. Dick was predeceased by his wife, Florence "Patricia" (nee Stark) and is survived by his sister, Jean Finan; brother, John Dury, and many nieces and nephews. Dick was born in Staten Island and graduated from Tottenville High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1946 to 1949, and helped commission and also served on the U.S.S. Coral Sea. Dick received an honorable discharge from the Navy and graduated from Wagner College in 1953. He joined White Weld, a brokerage firm, and after many years the firm was acquired by Merrill Lynch. Dick served as a foreign securities specialist until his retirement in 1989. He was introduced to his wife, Pat, by mutual friends. The couple married in 1955, and spent many happy years together until her passing in 2016. Dick was previously a member of the Young Republican Club in Richmond County. He was also a member of the Richmond County Yacht Club and was active in sailboat racing. After retiring, Dick and Pat began restoring their 95-year-old home, and Dick became a history buff. Dick was a true gentleman, a lifelong sailor and a force to be reckoned with on the dance floor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Viewing is on Monday, June 10, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Hanley Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at the funeral home.
