(nee Shea), 88, of Westlake, formerly of Detroit MI., beloved wife of 65 years to Donald; dear mother of Keith (Barbara) of Vermont, Philip (Barbara) of Colorado and the late Paul of Rocky River; loving grandmother of Tim, Rob, Stacy, and Katie; great-grandmother of Tyler and Autumn; sister of the late Phil Shea. Passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2019, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Denise was an amazing woman, she was the Michigan State Champion in the 100 and 50 Freestyle and participated in the Olympic trials at the age of 15. She loved animals and gardening. Denise had a captivating laugh and smile she charmed everyone that she met. She attended Purdue University where she met her sweetheart, they married in 1954 and had a blessed life together. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Denise's name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675-8516 or to the Hospice of the Western Reserve, 17876 St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44110. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette Church, 2256 Clague Rd., Westlake, 44145, on Friday, June 14, at 10am, Fr. Philip G. Racco to preside.
