Robert "Bob" Waters
Robert "Bob" G. Waters passed away on Friday, May 31st after a short illness. Well-known for his humor, generosity, and love of the finer things in life, Bob was a beloved member of the Pascagoula community, the Maritime community, and his wide network of friends and family for all of his 72 years. Bob was born on March 21st, 1947 in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where he remained a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Pascagoula High School, and served in the US Army in the late 1960's. A talented sportsman, Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting throughout his life, and worked for 22 years as a Captain for Edison Chouest, where he took countless numbers of young employees under his wing and training . Bob was also a gifted cook, and loved to share his culinary talents with his friends and family. Always a wise-crack with a heart of gold and endless generosity, Bob was well-respected and revered by so many who knew and loved him. Bob was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ralph and Ruth (nee Hollyfield) Waters, his older brothers Warden Waters, Ralph H. Waters and his sister-in-law Margaret (nee Desemar) Waters. He was also preceded in death by two of his nieces, Susan Waters Marshall and Barbara Waters Godsey. Throughout his life, Bob was a strong supporter of the family legacy, being sure to pass down his ancestors' and parents' stories to the younger generations. Bob is survived by his niece Peggy Waters Morvant, as well as 11 great-nieces and nephews, their children, their children's children, and spouses. He was beloved by his extended family, aunts, uncles, and cousins of the Hollyfield and Waters families. Bob was also an integral member of the Edison Chouest company. Finally, he is survived by his friends, with whom he created a tight-knit community of sportsmen who became like family. Bob will be remembered Saturday, June 8th 2019 at 1:00 pm with a short service at St. John's Episcopal Church in Pascagoula. Following the service, Bob's friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of his life at his family home at 2412 Grimsley Street. Flowers in memory of Bob may be sent to his home.
