Evelyn Berry
Evelyn Berry Palm Springs - Evelyn Berry, beloved wife of James Berry, passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center, Palm Springs, on May 27, 2019. Evelyn was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 21, 1940, and spent her childhood in nearby Hannibal. She was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her in a life journey that took her from Missouri to Kodiak, AK; Kansas City, MO; St. Charles, IL, and finally Palm Springs. She was a cherished employee of the Continental Hotel, Wyndham Hotel, HBA Hospital Billing, and McKesson Corp. She was her husband's partner in several graphic arts enterprises and she owned and operated ETC Publications, a company that publishes textbooks and a select list of general interest tomes. In retirement she pursued her passion for historical fiction, classical music, and college football (Notre Dame), and cared for the "rescue dogs" Teddi, Osso, and Birdie. She served on the board of Friends of the Palm Springs Library and treasured her work with Palm Springs Concerts. She is survived in Palm Springs by her husband James; in San Diego, by her brother Brit Thomas and family, in Desert Hot Springs, CA, by her son Michael Knollhoff and his partner Roger Fisher; in Lake Elsinore, CA, by her daughter Michaele and son-in-law Keven LePenske; in Northfield, MN, by her daughter Anne and son-in-law George Vrtis, and in St. Charles, IL, by her son Jay Berry. Evelyn was devoted to her seven grandchildren, Jessica Pageau (who married Matthew Pageau) and Jacob Schulte; Sarah, Joshua, and Emma LePenske, and Meadow and Henry Vrtis. And to her great-grandchildren, James and Madison Pageau. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m., June 15, at United Methodist Church in Palm Springs. Those who wish to offer a remembrance could do so with the Children's Outreach Project of Palm Springs Concerts ( psconcerts.org ).
