Roma A. Reed
Roma A. Reed, 80, formerly of Hummelstown, passed away on May 4, 2019 after a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia and recent complications related to a stroke. Born July 10, 1938 in Harrisburg, she was the wife of the late O. Thomas Reed, Jr. and was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Hetrick Jr and his wife, Doris, who raised her from a young age. She was the daughter of the late Robert Pierce and Reba Mae (Heverling) Hetrick. Roma was a loving, caring and compassionate mother and Nanny to her grandchildren. She was a member and active volunteer at Paxton United Methodist Church, and also volunteered at the local hospice and the former Hummelstown Ambulance Association. She was retired from Nationwide Insurance Company, where she worked for over 25 years. Surviving is her sister, Doris Magaro, Marysville; her brother, Sonny Klinepeter (Damaris), Duncannon; four children: Debra Reed-Gillette (Robert), Silver Spring MD, Michael Reed (Jean), Lebanon, Sherry Breckenmaker (the late Kevin Breckenmaker), Hershey and Laurie Masino (Robert), Downingtown; 7 beloved grandchildren: Nicholas Caffas (Alli), Pittsburgh, James Gillette (Nicole), Bethesda MD, Andrew Caffas (Joy), Murrysville, Michael Masino (Justine), Downingtown, Jonathan Gillette, Silver Spring MD, Colin Masino and Grace Masino, Downingtown PA; and many nieces, nephews, and God-children. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild in August. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 pm, Friday, June 14 at Paxton United Methodist Church, 3550 N. Progress Avenue, Harrisburg. Friends will be received from 12:00 pm until the time of services. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association ( LBDA.org ) or your favorite charity in her name.
