John Michael Schroeder Jan. 20, 1956 - May 10, 2019 John Michael Schroeder was born in Newark, N.J., to Paul and Florence Schroeder (née Morey). John lost his mother at the age of 10 and helped his father care for his siblings. He attended Newark East Side High School until leaving to serve in the US Army from 1972-1974, when he was honorably discharged. He drove and dispatched for Red Top and Irvington Cab, as well as managing the latter in his last years of work. John resided in Kearny, Hillside and Elizabeth, N.J., where he made many friends and acquaintances. He enjoyed watching the NY Giants and attending Mets games with his son. He was the father of John Francis; grandfather of Hudson; brother of Paul, James, Thomas, and the late Jane; brother-in-law of Deborah and Jean, and uncle of Jennifer and Thomas. Visitation and services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2019, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Union Funeral Home-Lytwyn & Lytwyn, 1600 Stuyvesant Ave., Union.
