Harlan J. Waltz, DDS Evansville, IN Harlan J. Waltz, DDS, 93, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at St. Vincent Medical Center. Harlan was born in Evansville, Indiana on February 15, 1926 to the late John and Izora (Ruminer) Waltz. He graduated from Reitz High School, Evansville College and from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. Harlan honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. During his dental career, Harlan worked for the Kentucky State Health Department, traveling along with his wife, Edna, from county to county checking children's teeth. From 1953 to 2005 he had his own dental practice in Evansville where he was very generous with his professional services. He was a member of the First District Dental Society and was a founder of Health Resources Inc. Harlan enjoyed golfing, traveling, watercolor painting, and playing bridge with his wife and their friends for more than 50 years. Volunteering was very important to Harlan. He delivered meals on wheels and was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Edna and Harlan were inseparable. As her health declined, he lovingly and selflessly cared for her until she passed away in 2016. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Harlan is survived by his daughter, Sarah Pace (Christopher) of Newburgh, IN; his sons, David Waltz (Rhonda) of Evansville, IN and Dan Waltz (Callie) of Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Steven Waltz, Michael Pace (Lauren), Hannah Pace, Matthew Waltz, Andrew Pace, Brooklyn Wheatley-Waltz and Harlan Waltz Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harlan was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Edna Mae (Tiemann) Waltz; his parents; his siblings, Thelma Overdeer and her husband, Robert; and Don Waltz. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Rev. Dr. Todd Gile officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home.
