In memory of
Mattie M. Walker Rogers Benison
She was the daughter of Henry and Arlillian Starks Walker of Dallas County, Alabama. Her siblings were Fannie Mae Walker Smith, Sudie Walker Hamilton and William H. Walker. This matriarch of the family has planted deep roots of love and Christian values in our hearts; therefore, she was called "Honey, Madear and Grandma". She taught us to always acknowledge Him for direction in our lives. Love in action was rendered in Kingdom Building at Shady Grove Baptist with the Choir, Mission, Sunday School and Matrons. Our beloved attended Wenonah Trade School to enhance her skills and marketability and later became Site Manager of Muscoda Community Center's Senior Citizens Program. Those most sorrowful for her superannuation include children, Mattie (Larry) Walker, Joanne Horn, Yvonne Brabson, Anne Wade and E. Mustafa Muhammad-El; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and numerous dear loved ones. Life Celebration is Noon Friday at Shady Grove Baptist, 2600 Fairfax Avenue, Bessemer. Pastor V.L. Harkins, Celebrant. Inhumation follows at Highland. Family Visitation is 5:00 until 7:00 Thursday. Calling Hours at Johnson Memorial, Bessemer, Thursday Noon until 8:00.
