Thomas Warren (Tom) Tucker
Thomas (Tom) Warren Tucker Palm Springs - Thomas (Tom) Warren Tucker, son of the late Rosale Tucker-Hilton and Joseph A Tucker, and brother of the late Alfred Tucker, was born on April 3, 1935, in Charleston, South Carolina, and passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, in Palm Springs, California. Tom grew up on Johns Island, SC, graduated from St Johns High School. His further schooling was for a degree in history (focused on the War of Yankee Aggression) from the College of Charleston, in 1958. Tom was drafted into the United States' Army, serving from 1958 to 1960. Upon discharge in Los Angeles, CA, Tom remained on the West Coast of the U.S. living for a long period of time in Portland, OR, and then in Los Angeles. After a long career in sales for the Anaconda Wire and Cable Company, Tom and his partner of 40 years, the late Richard Stensrude, retired to Palm Springs, CA, in 2001. During his many years of setirement, Tom was an enthusiastic supporter of and participant in many of the colorful and varied activities of Palm Springs, to include Prime Timers of the Desert and Frontrunners. Tom always wore a smile and never met a stranger. In addition to friends up and down the West Coast, plus family of his late partner Dick Stensrude, Tom is survived by his brother William Hilton, sister Rosemary Ann Mcllwain, sisterin-law Patricia Hilton, and her sons Jamie, Jody and daughter Jennifer as well as a number of nieces' and nephews. After cremation by the Neptune Society, Tom's remains will be cast upon the Pacific Ocean from the island of Kauai. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Tom's name may be made to The Desert Aids Project or Aids Assistance Project. A Celebration of Life will be held in Palm Springs at a yet-to-be-determined date in November.
