Erik Sven Bentle Evansville, Ind. Erik Sven Bentle, 58, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family. Erik was born in Tampa, Florida on December 5, 1960 to the late Jack and Sylvia Lee (Berry) Bentle. He honorably served in the United States Navy. Erik was head supervisor for the Vanderburgh County Highway Department and worked in commercial maintenance at local apartments for many years. He coached for the Stringtown Community Booster Club in the Rural Girls Softball League where the Coach of Courage Award was named after him. Erik was a faithful member of Christian Fellowship church and was a wonderful husband, father, papaw, brother and friend. Erik is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janice Marie (Ritter) Bentle of Evansville, IN; daughter, Anna Marie Dillon (Mark Biggs II) of Evansville, IN; son, Matthew Erik Bentle (Mallory Gunn) of Evansville, IN; sisters, April Gaskins (Royce) of Charleston, SC, Kandi Johnson (Charles) of Evansville, IN, Vicki Mills (Greg) of Evansville, IN, Cindy Brown (David) of Jupiter, FL; brothers, Billy Bentle (Candy) of Evansville, IN, Jerry Wayne Byard (Jamie) of Evansville, IN, Ron Nurrenbern of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Kaylee and Carly Dillon, Jaxon and Jace Biggs, Ryder and Roland Biggs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Erik was preceded in death by his parents and by his nephew, Scott Eugene Johnson. A celebration of Erik's life will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor Dale Beaver officiating. The Retired Veterans Memorial Club will be conducting military honors. Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until service time on Thursday at Browning Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stringtown Community Booster Club.
