86, of Avon Lake passed away peacefully Thursday, May 2nd. Loving husband of 59 years to Catherine (nee Prestash). Devoted Father to Father John, Tom (Toni), Ann Marie Underhill (John), Cathy Zahn (Matt), Susan, Marty (Erin). Cherished grandfather of Sarah Blatnik (Greg), Hannah, Zachary, Evan, Kyle, Lindsey, Jack, Keira. Brother of MaryAnne Kauffman, Marge Schwallie, Bill (deceased), Jim (deceased), Jack (deceased), Terry Schwarz (deceased). Al was born on 6/21/1932 in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from St. Ignatius High School and John Carroll University. He spent 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Al was manager of the Yellow Freight System for 29 years in Lima, OH. He volunteered at Malachi Center for 16 years. Funeral Mass Saturday May 18, 2019 at 11 am at St. Raphael Church, Bay Village.
