Louise L. Ellenberger
Louise L. Ellenberger, 93, of Duncannon, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the home of her daughter in Duncannon. Born on August 10, 1925 in Marysville, PA to the late Fremont W. & Pearl (Bentsel) Bitting. She was a graduate of Duncannon High School class of 1943. Louise retired from Rohrer Bus Service being their first female bus driver in 1966. She worked in their payroll department for 18 years and drove school bus for 22 years. During this time, Louise received a school bus driver of distinction award from Governor Shapp for safely driving 500,000 miles. She was a member of New Buffalo Alliance Church, Duncannon, and taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was a member of Shermanata Grange #1796. She helped with music ministry at five different nursing homes each month for 9 years, playing her accordion while her husband Ken played his mouth organ. Louise was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth G. Ellenberger, Sr., a daughter Linda Lee Ellenberger, 3 sisters Evelyn Weldon, Freda Humbert, Dorothy Woodward, 2 brothers Fremont W. Bitting, Jr., and Kenneth E. Bitting. She is survived by 2 daughters Janet L. Colborn of Newtown Square, Barbara A. Hamilton and her husband Harry, Jr. of Duncannon, son Kenneth G. Ellenberger, Jr. and his wife JoAnn of Duncannon, 8 grandchildren Kathleen Colborn, Kenneth Colborn, Elaine (Hamilton) Stahle, Scott Hamilton, Jennifer (Hamilton) Pfaunmiller, Kenneth G. Ellenberger, III, Ethan Ellenberger, Nathan Ellenberger, 10 great grandchildren Benjamin, Nicholas, Johnathan and Mackenzie Stahle, Joshua, Caleb, Sara, and Daniel Hamilton, Kierstin (Pfaunmiller) Stanley, and Kenton Pfaunmiller, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at New Buffalo Alliance Church, 3352 Susquehanna Trail, Duncannon, PA 17020. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Duncannon. Viewing will be from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday in the church. Arrangements are under the care of the Ronald C.L.
